The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 19th that an accident occurred at approximately 4:55 p.m. on the 18th, resulting in the death of a worker in their 30s, identified as worker A, while working at the shipbuilding company HD Hyundai Mipo in Dong-gu, Ulsan.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, worker A, who was affiliated with the main contractor, fell from a height of 12 meters while lowering materials to the floor between safety railings. It is reported that the individual was transported to a hospital and passed away in the early hours of the 19th while receiving treatment.
This accident is the first major industrial accident at HD Hyundai Mipo since November 2016, marking a severe incident after eight years.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor immediately issued a partial work stoppage order and is investigating any violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Act on the Punishment of Severe Accidents.
