The severe cold, with morning lows dropping to minus 10 degrees Celsius, is expected to continue until the morning of the 19th.

According to the Korea meteorological Administration on the 18th, the morning low in Seoul was minus 6.2 degrees Celsius, the lowest this winter. Based on the weather observation site in Jongno-gu, Seoul, the temperature in Eunpyeong-gu was minus 11.4 degrees Celsius and Nowon-gu dropped to minus 11.1 degrees Celsius. Although they are in the same city, temperatures in mountainous areas of Seoul are expected to be even lower.

In particular, the temperature in northern Gyeonggi and inland mountainous areas of Gangwon, where a cold wave advisory has been issued, dropped to minus 15 degrees Celsius. Yanggu County in Gangwon recorded minus 16.1 degrees Celsius, Paju in Gyeonggi was at minus 15.2 degrees Celsius, and Pocheon in Gyeonggi recorded minus 14.5 degrees Celsius.

This severe cold is expected to continue until the morning of the 19th. The Korea meteorological Administration forecasted that the morning low on the 19th would be around minus 11 degrees Celsius, similar to today's levels. Particularly in central inland areas, eastern Jeonbuk, and northern inland Gyeongbuk, temperatures are expected to drop to around minus 10 degrees Celsius. However, the daytime high is expected to be similar to that of previous years, ranging from 3 to 10 degrees Celsius.

Since snow began falling on the 17th, Ulleungdo recorded 28 cm of snowfall as of noon, and an additional 10 cm of snow is expected by the 19th. The expected snowfall in the mountainous areas of Gangwon and northern Gyeongbuk is 3 to 10 cm, and 5 to 10 cm in the mountainous areas of Jeju.
