The joint investigation headquarters (joint investigation) investigating the Dec. 3 martial law incident conducted a raid on the server of the presidential security service within the presidential office building on the 17th. The joint investigation is an investigative body composed of the Korean National Police Agency's national investigation headquarters, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), and the Ministry of National Defense's investigation headquarters.

Members of the joint investigation team arrived at the petition office of the presidential office building at about 10:20 a.m. to go through entry procedures. At the same time, the joint investigation team is also conducting a raid on the official residence of Eo Cheong-soo, who is detained on charges of insurrection.

The joint investigation plans to secure materials related to Commissioner Eo's encrypted phone (a secure mobile phone with eavesdropping and recording prevention programs) through the presidential security server. On the day of martial law, Commissioner Eo had six calls with President Yoon Suk-yeol using the encrypted phone. The security office supplies and manages these phones.

On the 11th, the joint investigation also attempted raids on the presidential office and the joint chiefs of staff headquarters, but the presidential security office rejected entry to the building citing official and military confidentiality. At that time, the joint investigation received some documents through a voluntary submission.

The Korean National Police Agency's national investigation headquarters special investigation team for martial law had previously recognized the existence of the encrypted phone during an investigation of Commissioner Eo and requested voluntary submission, but Commissioner Eo declined, claiming it was not under personal management. The special investigation team then obtained a warrant and secured the encrypted phone from the commissioner's office on the 11th.
