The electric vehicle fire in the underground parking lot of an apartment in the Cheongna International City, Incheon, is estimated to have caused property damage of 3.8 billion won.
The Incheon Seobu Fire Station announced on the 16th that the final tally of property damages related to the electric vehicle fire in Cheongna in Aug. is 3.8 billion won, including 2.4 billion won for real estate and 1.4 billion won for personal property.
It was investigated that the fire, which started from an electric vehicle in the underground parking lot, burned or scorched 959 vehicles and damaged sewage pipes and electrical wiring in the parking lot.
However, the fire authorities calculated property damage based only on direct fire losses to buildings and vehicles, excluding mental damage to residents or removal expenses of residuals.
Residents plan to form a victim countermeasure committee and continue discussions on specific compensation for damages with Mercedes Korea, based on the investigation results from the police and fire authorities.
The fire authorities noted that they calculated the damage amount based on direct fire damages, considering depreciation by year, and that there may be significant differences from the damage amount assessed by insurance companies.
