At least 220,000 people are expected to gather in the Yeouido and Gwanghwamun areas of Seoul on the 14th, when the second vote on the impeachment bill against President Yoon Seok-yeol is scheduled. This is the number of participants reported to the police, while the organizers expect a crowd of 2 million.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 13th, a rally calling for the resignation of President Yoon will be held from 1 p.m. on the 14th near the National Assembly, along Uisadang-daero, Yeouigongwon-ro, and Eunhaeng-ro. The reported number of participants is about 200,000.
Several groups are also planning rallies and marches in the city center. The conservative group Liberty Unification Party will hold a rally between Dongwha Duty Free Shop and Exit 2 of City Hall Station. The reported number of participants is about 20,000.
The police plan to deploy traffic police in advance from a distance from the rallies in the city center and Yeouido area to reroute vehicles, as the organizers, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), anticipate a crowd of 2 million citizens.
The police advised, “Traffic congestion is expected in the city center and Yeouido area,” urging the use of public transportation, such as subways, and to check traffic information in advance if driving.
