A lawsuit for damages has been filed, claiming mental harm due to President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of martial law.
On the 10th, the 'Preparatory Meeting for a Lawsuit Seeking Damages for Yoon Suk Yeol's Acts of Rebellion' announced that it would file a lawsuit demanding compensation of 100,000 won per person, with President Yoon as the defendant.
This lawsuit was initiated at the suggestion of attorney Lee Geum-gyu, who served as a representative for the National Assembly during the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye.
All citizens aged 19 and over can participate in the lawsuit as plaintiffs. The attorney's fee is free, but any awarded damages will be donated in full.
While recruiting plaintiffs, attorney Lee stated, 'The martial law declared by President Yoon and the actions of the martial law troops that obstructed the resolutions of National Assembly members are unconstitutional acts,' adding, 'As a result, citizens faced threats to their lives and bodies.'
Furthermore, 'Citizens have the right to claim compensation for damages resulting from illegal acts,' Lee added, 'and we are filing a lawsuit seeking compensation of 100,000 won as consolation money.'
