Medical imaging artificial intelligence (AI) corporations Coreline Soft(384470) said on the 14th that "AVIEW Lung Nodule CAD," which detects pulmonary nodules in chest CT scans, won approval after review by Japan's regulator, the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (hereinafter PMDA).
With this approval, the company can formally supply the product to Japanese medical institutions. The company said, "Among CT-based pulmonary nodule CADs approved by the PMDA, this is the first product developed in Korea," adding, "It is the fourth case by global standards."
The company plans to use this as a springboard to expand its local business in Japan. Last year, the company acquired asset related to VUNO's chest CT AI solution "VUNO Med-LungCT," securing Japanese customers and distribution networks.
The company said, "We currently have about 80 hospitals in Japan as customers," adding, "Compared with at the time of the acquisition, the customer base has roughly doubled in about a year." It is also building sales channels with Japan M3 AI and Konica Minolta.
Previously, it ran its Japan business around products developed by VUNO, but the strategy is to broaden the portfolio to include its in-house AVIEW product line, such as pulmonary nodule detection, lung cancer screening, and quantitative analysis.
Kim Jin-guk of Coreline Soft said, "Based on the hospital customer base we have secured in Japan and our local business experience, we will expand real-world use of lung cancer screening and chest CT AI product lines."
