Celltrion(068270) said on the 10th that OMLYCLO, which treats asthma and hives, recorded a 90% market share in Spain as of July. OMLYCLO is a biosimilar of XOLAIR, developed by the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis.
Celltrion is offering OMLYCLO in 75 mg, 150 mg, and 300 mg doses in 26 European countries. It has set up subsidiaries in key countries to sell the product directly. The company is emphasizing that OMLYCLO has the same efficacy as the original drug, has a relatively long shelf life, and is safe.
Celltrion promoted OMLYCLO at the European Respiratory Society congress held in Barcelona, Spain, earlier this month. More than 20,000 medical professionals and researchers participate every year to share respiratory treatment strategies and research results. In December, it plans to take part in a global urticaria-focused academic conference in Berlin, Germany.
A Celltrion official said, "We will continue marketing to medical professionals."
