Domestic surgical medical device corporations Livsmed(491000) is rolling out a new multi-joint laparoscopic surgical instrument and stepping up efforts to tap the minimally invasive surgery market.
Livsmed said on the 8th it is launching the multi-joint surgical instrument ArtiSential PRO and beginning domestic distribution. It completed Ministery of Food and Drug Safety approval on the 3rd and will introduce a total of 39 models.
ArtiSential PRO is an extension of the handheld surgical instrument ArtiSential, whose tip moves 90 degrees up, down, left and right like a human wrist. ArtiSential is currently supplied to about 50 countries.
The new product is smaller and lighter than the previous model. The control unit height was lowered about 23%, from 239㎜ to 185㎜, and the overall weight was reduced by about 9%. The finger ring was changed to a silicone material, and the joint angle lock was improved to a one-touch method to enhance ease of operation.
The 5㎜ lineup was also expanded. The monopolar Precise Dissector and monopolar scissors, previously applied to the 8㎜ product, were added to the 5㎜ lineup, enabling electrosurgical cutting and dissection through a small incision. It offers eight end tools and three shaft lengths.
It can be used in the same surgical environment as the existing ArtiSential, so hospitals do not need to install additional equipment, which is another strength. Livsmed plans to leverage the existing product's global sales network to expand the new product's market entry.
Livsmed has ArtiSential, the vascular sealing device ArtiSeal, the surgical stapler ArtiStapler, and a 3D camera. It is also developing the next-generation surgical robot Stark, expanding its portfolio from handheld instruments to surgical robots.
