The Asan Social Welfare Foundation said on the 7th that it delivered $200,000 (about 270 million won) in relief funds through the Korean Red Cross to support Nepali disaster victims hit hard by large-scale flooding.
The funds will be used for emergency relief and recovery efforts for affected residents, including food and daily necessities support and medical aid.
The Asan Foundation has provided relief funds whenever major disasters have occurred overseas, including delivering $400,000 through the Korean Red Cross in 2023 for recovery from the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.
It has supported about 2.1 billion won to overseas relief efforts to date, including aid for Ukrainian refugees and Koryoin in 2022; the 2018 Indonesia tsunami; the 2015 Nepal earthquake; the 2013 Philippines typhoon; the 2010 Pakistan floods; and the 2006 Sri Lanka tsunami recovery.
It has also steadily contributed to domestic disaster recovery and support for disaster victims. From 2022 to 2025, it provided 800 million won for relief for wildfire and flood victims in Gangwon and North Gyeongsang, 1 billion won in 2020 to help overcome COVID-19, and 100 million won in 2019 for wildfire victim relief in Gangwon Province.
