In the pharmaceutical and bio industry, manufacturing capability is a key factor that, along with research and development, determines the competitiveness of corporations. With uncertainty in the global supply chain and stricter quality standards from regulators, the importance of stable production capacity and quality control systems is growing. Huons(243070) group is working to strengthen its manufacturing competitiveness this year by integrating production functions, expanding facilities, and increasing overseas production bases.
◇ Huons integrates production functions… Huons N expands capacity
Huons carried out a small-scale absorption merger of its 100% subsidiary Huons Bio Science in June. It is a move to integrate manufacturing functions such as production and quality control to improve operational efficiency in the pharmaceuticals business.
Huons N also absorbed BIOROSETTE, a health functional food manufacturer incorporated last year, in July. The plan is to unify R&D, manufacturing, and export functions and strengthen manufacturing capabilities.
Huons N also completed an expansion of the Chuncheon plant in July. It increased the production capacity of the ethanol extraction facility to 10,000 tons per year and newly built a water extraction facility with an annual capacity of 6,500 tons. Total production capacity rose to 16,500 tons per year. On the 3rd, it also received approval as a process safety management (PSM) establishment.
The Chuncheon plant produces ginseng and red ginseng concentrates, natural extract powders, and raw materials based on probiotics and microorganisms. Based on its production facilities, Huons N plans to expand its original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and original design manufacturing (ODM) businesses for health functional foods and functional ingredients.
◇ Expanding overseas production bases… Humedix to strengthen bio CMO
HuM&C produces medical glass containers such as vials and cartridges through its Vietnam production subsidiary HuM&C Vina. Based on its local production facilities, it plans to enhance responsiveness to global clients and expand overseas supply.
Huons Meditech established a local assembly (CKD) production line for endoscope disinfectors in Hyderabad, India, in February. Through local production, it aims to improve price and logistics competitiveness and plans to expand CKD production items to extracorporeal shock wave lithotripters and disinfectants in the future.
Humedix(200670) recently received a good manufacturing practice (GMP) compliance determination from the Ministery of Food and Drug Safety for contract manufacturing (CMO) of recombinant bio-pharmaceuticals. Based on this, it is set to handle finished production of human-derived hyaluronidase currently under development by Huons Lab.
