Huons(243070)Group affiliate Huons N said on the 3rd that the Chuncheon plant in Gangwon has a production capacity of 16,500t. The capacity has tripled from before. This plant makes ingredients for functional foods and health functional foods, including ginseng and red ginseng.
Huons N explained that the plant can culture and ferment 3,000t of microorganisms annually that serve as raw materials for lactic acid bacteria. It can also extract, freeze and dry natural materials. With this, the company plans to meet client demand for raw material orders and expand businesses such as original equipment manufacturing (OEM).
The Chuncheon plant received a good manufacturing practice (GMP) conformity judgment for health functional foods from the Ministery of Food and Drug Safety. From the design stage, it applied barriers and hazard detection sensors and obtained approval as a process safety management (PSM) establishment.
