SK plasma said on the 1st it will begin domestic supply of the high-dose version of the thrombocytopenia treatment "Revolpac," "Revolpac tablet 75 mg."
After launching 25 mg and 50 mg Revolpac in Aug., it added a 75 mg product to expand its dosage lineup. The aim is to reduce the pill burden for patients who need high doses.
Revolpac is a prescription medicine containing eltrombopag olamine, and this is the first time a 75 mg strength product has been launched in Korea. Eltrombopag olamine increases platelet counts by promoting platelet production in the bone marrow and is used to treat chronic immune thrombocytopenia and severe aplastic anemia.
Eltrombopag olamine formulations require dose adjustment based on a patient's platelet count and treatment response. Until now, only 25 mg and 50 mg products were sold in Korea, so patients who needed high doses had to take multiple tablets together.
In particular, for first-line treatment of severe aplastic anemia, adults and adolescents ages 12–17 take 75 mg once daily. Previously, patients had to take both 25 mg and 50 mg products together, but with the 75 mg product, they can take just one tablet a day.
Drug costs will also decrease. Based on the national health insurance reimbursement ceiling, taking 25 mg and 50 mg together costs 83,586 won per day, while the 75 mg product costs 68,985 won. Using the 75 mg product lowers drug costs by about 17.5%.
SK plasma plans to leverage its experience in treatments for blood-related diseases such as albumin and immunoglobulin to diversify dosages and formulations and improve treatment convenience for patients.
Kim Seung-ju, CEO of SK plasma, said, "We developed and launched a high-dose therapy by reflecting the views of medical staff and patients in the field where prescriptions and administration actually take place," adding, "We will strengthen our expertise and portfolio across areas arising from blood issues, including plasma-derived medicines, and actively reflect on-the-ground feedback that can provide practical help to patients."
Meanwhile, according to IQVIA, the domestic market for eltrombopag formulations was about 10.4 billion won in the 12 months through Jun. 2026. SK plasma, a plasma fractionation specialist, is expanding its portfolio of treatments for rare and severe blood disorders from hemophilia therapies to thrombocytopenia treatments.
