Samsung Biologics(207940) Labor and management are set to enter post-mediation on the 8th. This is a procedure in which mediation resumes after labor-management mediation breaks down and the union secures the right to strike. At Samsung Biologics, labor and management applied for post-mediation on Aug. 14 with the consent of both sides.
A Samsung Biologics union official said on the 1st that "post-mediation is scheduled for Sept. 8" and "we are coordinating the schedules of the Commissioners." Post-mediation between labor and management is overseen by the Labor Commission.
A union official said, "At the Incheon Regional Labor Commission, an agreement was reached to help move up the post-mediation schedule," adding, "Since the company said it would submit a plan after commencement, we expect the mediation to pick up speed."
At Samsung Biologics, labor and management have continued to clash over wage increases and personnel systems. In May, the union launched the company's first strike since its founding and proposed an average wage increase of 14%. It recently revised its demand to a 6.5% wage increase plus 3 million won. The union said that if the wage increase rate falls below this, a wage gap could open with competitors.
