Celltrion(068270) said on the 27th that sales of the subcutaneous injection of Remsima, an autoimmune disease treatment, reached 456.2 billion won in the first half. It is a biosimilar of Johnson & Johnson's Remicade.
Remsima is divided into an intravenous infusion taken by drip at hospitals and a subcutaneous injection that patients can administer by pricking the skin. In the United States, the subcutaneous injection of Remsima is sold under the name Zymfentra. The subcutaneous Remsima recorded 356.7 billion won in first-half sales in Europe, Korea and elsewhere this year. Zymfentra posted 99.5 billion won in sales in the United States. Those figures were up 20% and 176%, respectively, from the same period last year.
According to IQVIA, the subcutaneous Remsima posted a 32% share in Europe, including Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy and France, in the first quarter this year. Celltrion plans to launch the subcutaneous Remsima in Japan next year.
A Celltrion official said, "The goal is to grow the subcutaneous Remsima into a 1 trillion won-a-year drug."
