Yuhan(000100) said on the 20th that a children's comic about the life of its late founder, Dr. Yoo Il-han, has been published. The life of Dr. Yoo, who engaged in independence activism during the Japanese colonial period and returned his assets to society, was produced by Dasan Books as a history comic titled "who? Modern and contemporary history Yoo Il-han."
Born in 1895, Dr. Yoo went to study in the United States at age 9. In 1919, just after the March 1 Independence Movement, he drafted a declaration for independence at the Korean National Association's Philadelphia conference. After running a bean sprout business, he returned to Korea in 1926 and founded Yuhan. He said it was because only when the people are healthy can sovereignty be reclaimed.
He returned to the United States and led the creation of the Maenghogūn, an armed anti-Japanese independence force, and took part in "NAPKO," a U.S. military plan for anti-Japanese operations. Although the plan was not carried out due to Japan's surrender and Korea's liberation on Aug. 15, 1945, related details became known decades later through documents at the U.S. National Archives.
The comic is planned for distribution to elementary schools and public libraries nationwide. A Yuhan official said, "It can prompt reflection on social responsibility."
