Radiopharmaceutical corporations DuChemBio(176750) saw first-half results rise from a year earlier, helped by expanded sales of diagnostics for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease and prostate cancer.
DuChemBio said on the 18th that first-half revenue rose 16.3% from a year earlier to 20.9 billion won. Operating profit for the same period increased 24.6% to 3.2 billion won.
The company said three diagnostics for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease and prostate cancer led growth.
First-half revenue for the Alzheimer's diagnostics "Neuracheck" and "Vizamyl" rose 38.2% to 4.5 billion won, and the Parkinson's disease diagnostic "18F-FP-CIT" increased 20.8% to 2.3 billion won. Combined revenue for the three, including the prostate cancer diagnostic, climbed 45.8% to 7.6 billion won.
The share of the three diagnostics in total revenue also expanded to 36.2% from 28.9%. The existing flagship cancer diagnostic "FDG" posted revenue of 10.8 billion won, continuing stable performance, the company said.
Second-quarter (April–June) revenue rose 17.8% from a year earlier to 11.2 billion won, the highest on a quarterly basis. It also surpassed the previous record quarterly revenue of 10.7 billion won set in the fourth quarter of last year. The second-quarter operating margin improved to 17.2% from 13.4% in the first quarter.
Growth of the prostate cancer diagnostic "ProstaCiq" is also continuing. Launched in December last year, ProstaCiq saw second-quarter revenue rise 61% from the previous quarter. DuChemBio plans to expand supply to medical institutions operating PET-CTs, based on reimbursement and supply chain expansion.
DuChemBio expects to achieve record annual revenue this year.
Chief Executive Kim Sang-woo said, "With FDG providing stable support, diagnostics for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease and prostate cancer have established themselves as new growth engines," adding, "Revenue is increasing every quarter, and we are confident of achieving record annual revenue this year."
