Dongwha Pharm said on the 12th that it will donate part of its sales revenue to mark the Aug. 15 Liberation Day. It aims to revisit the history of independence activism during the Japanese colonial period and support the descendants of those who contributed to independence.
From the day to the 24th, Dongwha Pharm will donate 1% of the sales revenue from Gaswhal, Sodawhal, and Pyeonanwhal Strong sold on Naver Store to Habitat for Humanity Korea. The donations will be used for projects to improve the housing conditions of the descendants of those who contributed to independence. Customers who purchase the products will receive a keycap keyring to remember Liberation Day.
Founded in 1897, Dongwha Pharm is the oldest pharmaceutical company in the country. Dongwha Yakbang, the predecessor of Dongwha Pharm, served as a base for the Seoul Liaison Office of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea during the Japanese colonial period. It was a secret organization created by the Provisional Government in Shanghai, China, to exchange communications with those in the country. The first president, Mangang, supported the independence movement with revenue from sales of Hwalmyungsoo.
A Dongwha Pharm official said, "We will reflect on the meaning of liberation in everyday life."
