Aimed Bio(0009K0) said on the 12th that it posted consolidation sales of 20.2 billion won and operating profit of 8.5 billion won in the second quarter of this year. Sales rose 166% from a year earlier, and operating profit increased 280%.
Technology transfer to overseas pharmaceutical companies drove the improvement in results. Aimed Bio in Oct. last year signed a contract to export an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) candidate to C. H. Boehringer Sohn AG & Co. KG worth up to $991 million (1.4 trillion won). The amount includes the upfront payment and milestones (technology fees) by development stage. The company noted that technology fees came in this time and were reflected in sales.
Aimed Bio is a corporations founded in 2018 by Nam Do-hyeon, a neurosurgery professor at Samsung Medical Center. It has technology to develop new antibody-drug conjugate medicines. This attaches a drug to an antibody to precisely strike cancer cells. It reduces side effects on normal cells and boosts treatment efficacy, drawing attention as a next-generation anticancer technology.
The company said, "We will also expand in-house clinical development."
