Celltrion(068270) said on the 12th that OMLYCLO, which treats asthma and hives, is estimated to have recorded a 90% market share in Spain as of June. OMLYCLO is a biosimilar to XOLAIR, developed by Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis.
Celltrion has set up subsidiaries in major overseas countries and sells medicines directly. The Spain subsidiary has been supplying OMLYCLO through bids by the Catalonia, Basque Country, Asturias, and Valencia regional governments since the first half.
Celltrion said its autoimmune disease treatments Remsima, Yuflyma, and Steqeyma won a national tender in Portugal. Remsima is a biosimilar of Remicade, developed by Johnson & Johnson in the United States. Yuflyma is a biosimilar of Humira (AbbVie), and Steqeyma is a biosimilar of Stelara (Janssen).
In Europe, the share of public health care is high, so governments can decide by tender which drugs medical institutions will use. The company said it is winning government tenders one after another. Kang Seok-hoon, head of Celltrion's Spain subsidiary, said it will strengthen its direct-sales competitiveness.
