Noul(376930) said on the 6th that it signed a contract with a medical device distributor in East Africa to supply the artificial intelligence (AI) cervical cancer diagnosis solution "miLab CER" and the blood analysis solution "miLab BCM" to four Indian Ocean coastal countries.
This contract is Noul's first case of supplying a cervical cancer diagnosis solution to the African market. The company said it expects this to serve as an opportunity to expand its Africa-focused portfolio, previously centered on malaria diagnosis, into the field of cancer diagnosis.
The target countries for supply—Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles and Comoros—are leading international tourist destinations frequented by European visitors, and are regions with relatively higher income levels and active investment in medical infrastructure within Africa. However, due to their geographic characteristics as islands, they face difficulties in securing specialized medical personnel, creating strong demand for automated diagnostic equipment.
Through this supply, Noul plans to expand high value-added diagnostic products suited to local medical environments, improve the average selling price (ASP) and secure real-world use data.
Noul CEO Lim Chan-yang said, "Starting the supply of cervical cancer diagnosis solutions in Africa is an important turning point in expanding our malaria-centered business domain into high value-added areas such as cancer diagnosis," and added, "Based on the cervical cancer diagnosis business that is yielding results in Latin America, we will target emerging markets with high growth potential, including Africa and Indonesia, to enhance global revenue."
Noul's AI-based automated diagnostic platform "miLab" is an all-in-one solution that integrates the entire process of microscopic diagnosis—from specimen staining to digital imaging and AI analysis—into a single compact device.
In particular, "miLab CER" has been recognized for its technical capabilities, having been recommended for use alongside products from Switzerland's Roche and the United States' Hologic in the 2024 official report by the World Health Organization's Unitaid (WHO-UNITAID).
