Hanmi Pharmaceutical(128940) said on the 31st that the Pyeongtaek manufacturing center, a global biopharmaceutical production base, earned the top P grade for the second consecutive time in the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL)'s process safety management (PSM) assessment.
The Pyeongtaek manufacturing center is Hanmi Pharmaceutical Group's global biopharmaceutical production base and a key production hub responsible for supplying obesity and metabolic disease treatments at home and abroad, including the obesity drug "Efe" (ingredient Efpeglenatide), which is slated for release in the second half of this year.
It is also producing the biologic new drug "Rolbedon" (Korean name Rollontis), which is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and clinical trial investigational drugs for a MASH therapeutic candidate being developed by Merck & Co. (MSD).
Following 2022, the Pyeongtaek manufacturing center kept its P grade this year as well, becoming the first in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry to win the top grade for two consecutive rounds.
Process safety management (PSM) is a system in which the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) conducts a comprehensive evaluation of the safety management level at business sites that handle hazardous facilities and harmful substances to prevent major industrial accidents. Based on the results, grades P (excellent), S (good), M+ (average), and M- (poor) are assigned, and the P grade is given only to business sites with the highest level of safety management recognized by the government. As of 2025, among 614 PSM-targeted business sites in the greater Seoul area, 26 received the P grade.
Hanmi Pharmaceutical said it was recognized for building a prevention-centered safety management system through advanced risk assessments, preemptive identification of harmful and risk factors, and on-site focused safety activities. The company has strengthened its EHS (environment, health, and safety) management system centered on the Pyeongtaek and Paltan manufacturing centers.
