Huons(243070) Meditech said on the 29th it filed and won a lawsuit in China seeking to stop the distribution of counterfeit medical devices. The People's Court of Anci District in Langfang, China, ruled for the plaintiff on June 18 in a lawsuit filed by Huons Meditech seeking to ban trademark infringement against Hebei Feiza Precision Instrument Co., Ltd.
Huons Meditech discovered that its medical device brand Dermashine had been used without authorization in China. The company filed a lawsuit in July last year asking the court to stop a local company from infringing on its trademark. The first-instance ruling came after 11 months and was finalized because the defendant did not appeal.
Under the ruling, all counterfeit medical devices distributed in China and their packaging boxes must be discarded. The company said it will actively respond to the distribution of counterfeits to protect the brand.
Ha Chang-woo, CEO of Huons Meditech, said, "We will respond to illegal acts that steal technology and brands and protect intellectual property rights."
