LigaChem Biosciences(141080) Science said on the 21st that it will present two studies on antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) candidate substances at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO). An antibody-drug conjugate is a technology that treats cancer cells by attaching a drug to an antibody. It leaves healthy cells intact and precisely strikes only cancer cells, so it is called the "guided missile that takes out cancer cells." The company plans to explain the development process from preclinical to clinical entry.
LigaChem Biosciences is developing the antibody-drug conjugate candidate LCB02A. It targets claudin 18.2, a type of protein. After confirming efficacy in the preclinical stage, it will conduct a phase 1 trial with 191 patients with solid tumors. The goal is to administer the first patient in the third quarter.
The European Society for Medical Oncology will be held in Madrid, Spain, in Oct. Se-jin Park, CEO of LigaChem Biosciences, said, "We have come to conduct the first clinical trial at institutions including Dana-Farber Cancer Institute affiliated with Harvard Medical School in the United States," and added, "We will build credibility overseas."
