The National Center of Mental Health said on the 19th it will provide drug treatment and rehabilitation education with the Seoul Probation Office. The aim is to help people addicted to drugs feel the harm and support their return to the community.
People ordered by a court to take a drug education course can participate. The program addresses substances and sleep disorders, depression and anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and provides mental health and physical rehabilitation and art therapy. Those who want treatment are connected to the National Center of Mental Health addiction clinic.
The education program will run from this month through Nov. at the Seoul Probation Office, divided into five groups. An addiction psychiatrist and a clinical psychology expert, among others, will take part in the education. Participants will be followed for three months.
Nam Yun-young, director of the National Center of Mental Health, said, "Drug addiction is a condition that is hard to solve with punishment," adding, "When we provide support for treatment and recovery, a healthy return to society is possible."
