Daewoong Pharmaceutical(069620) will team up with a medical AI corporations to enter the AI endoscopy diagnosis market. The strategy is to expand the Digital Healthcare business by adding AI diagnostic software to the existing gastrointestinal treatment business.
Daewoong Pharmaceutical said on the 10th that it signed a domestic sales contract with medical AI corporations Weisen for the AI endoscopic image analysis software "Waymed Endo."
Under the contract, Daewoong Pharmaceutical will use its nationwide hospital sales network to handle product sales and marketing for tertiary general hospitals, general hospitals, health checkup centers, and clinics. Weisen will be responsible for product development and technical support.
Waymed Endo is medical AI software that analyzes upper and lower endoscopy images in real time to help detect small lesions that medical staff can easily miss or abnormal findings in endoscopic blind spots. It was designated an innovative medical device by the Ministery of Food and Drug Safety in 2023 and is currently used in medical institutions in and outside Korea.
Daewoong Pharmaceutical plans to use this contract as a springboard to expand its Digital Healthcare business into the field of gastrointestinal diseases while also strengthening its portfolio of AI-based medical solutions.
