Daewoong Pharmaceutical said on the 3rd that Fexuclue, a treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease, improved patients' symptoms by 95% in clinical practice. Fexuclue is a so-called "third-generation gastrointestinal drug" that works quickly and does not require worrying about nighttime heartburn.
The company examined the effectiveness of Fexuclue in 630 patients in medical settings. It administered 40 mg of Fexuclue for four to eight weeks to older adults 65 and over, and to patients with hypertension and diabetes. As a result, symptoms improved in 95.75% of patients. No serious adverse reactions were reported.
Fexuclue posted 20.3 billion won in sales in the first quarter this year. It accounted for 6% of the company's total sales. Fexuclue was launched in 2022 as the 34th domestically developed new drug in Korea. Last year, it received product approval in China.
