Cha Hospital said on the 2nd that it will host the international academic event "2026 Reproductive Aging – PSRM Conference," where the world's top scholars in aging and reproductive science will gather to discuss extending reproductive longevity, on Aug. 16–17 at the CHA Bio Complex in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province.
The event was organized jointly with the Asia Pacific Society for Reproductive Medicine (PSRM), one of the world's largest academic societies in reproductive medicine.
Attendees include Cha Kwang-ryeol, head of the Global Integrated Research Institute at Cha Hospital and CHA Bio Group, Jared Robbins, CEO of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), Uri Alon, professor at the Weizmann Institute, Seo Yu-shin, professor at Columbia University, Hwang Zhongwei, professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and Park Sang-chul, president of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, among other leading authorities in reproductive medicine and longevity research.
They will discuss in depth how genetics and epigenetics, oocyte aging, and declining ovarian function—which have absolute impact on aging—affect health span.
In particular, Uri Alon of the Weizmann Institute, who drew global attention by presenting research that genetic factors account for 50%–55% in determining human lifespan, will deliver a keynote lecture on "The epidemiology of menopause," based on 300 million laboratory data points.
Next, Seo Yu-shin of Columbia University will present on ovarian aging in reproductive geroscience. Seo identified, for the first time in the world, the genetics of the "telomere" that is a secret of longevity among people aged 100 and older, and found that women who reach menopause early face higher risks of diseases such as heart disease and have shorter lifespans.
In addition, leading global scholars representing the fields of aging and reproductive longevity will participate.
Brian Kennedy of the National University of Singapore will present on "Gerotherapeutics and the future of reproductive aging interventions," and is expected to suggest the clinical applicability of aging-modulation technologies.
Rogerio Lobo of Columbia University will present the latest research findings on "Effects of postmenopausal hormone use: does it play a preventive role?"
Jared Robbins, CEO of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, is expected to outline future strategies for reproductive medicine from the perspectives of technological innovation, medical access, and global health under the theme "Fertility extension."
Hwang Zhongwei of the National University of Singapore will present on "Inflammatory aging of the ovary: effects on reproduction and health span," addressing how ovarian fibrosis and inflammatory responses affect oocyte quality and women's health.
Seo Yu-shin said, "It is hard to believe that this event in reproductive medicine and aging is hosted by a single domestic institution, given that world-class scholars representing each field have gathered," and added, "It will be a time to confirm Cha Hospital's strong commitment to longevity and reproductive medicine research."
Cha Kwang-ryeol, head of the Global Integrated Research Institute at Cha Hospital and CHA Bio Group, said, "Reproductive medicine and longevity are core fields that Cha Hospital has focused on for more than 40 years," and added, "This conference will be a venue to discuss the shared human task of extending reproductive longevity with top-tier researchers worldwide, and the starting point for next-generation longevity research collaborations using advanced biotechnology, including K-Cell (Korea cell therapy and technology industry)."
