Im Ho-taek, head of the drug innovation center at Hanmi Pharmaceutical, received the Korea Engineer Award in recognition of contributions to the development of fixed-dose combination drugs and improved new drugs.
Hanmi Pharmaceutical said on the 2nd that Im was selected as a recipient of the Korea Engineer Award, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Industrial Technology Association. The awards ceremony was held on the 23rd in Seoul at the Westin Josun Hotel.
The Korea Engineer Award is given to engineers who contribute to technological innovation in industrial settings.
Im was recognized for leading the development of fixed-dose combination drugs and improved new drugs while participating in pharmaceutical research and development for about 20 years. Im took part in developing combination therapies for hypertension and dyslipidemia and contributed to developing Hanmi Pharmaceutical's flagship fixed-dose combination drug "Amosartan" and the improved new drug Esomezol product line.
The Amosartan product line remains among the top in prescriptions in the hypertension treatment market, and the Esomezol product line has established itself as an improved new drug in the gastroesophageal reflux disease treatment market.
Hanmi Pharmaceutical is conducting research on fixed-dose combination and improved new drugs, as well as innovative new drugs, centered on the drug innovation center and the formulation research institute. The company is also carrying out government research and development projects, including a glucagon-based treatment for congenital hyperinsulinism and an immunomodulatory anticancer drug.
