Remsima SC, the subcutaneous (SC) formulation of the autoimmune disease treatment Remsima (ingredient name Infliximab) developed by Celltrion, confirmed long-term treatment efficacy and safety in a phase 3 clinical trial involving Japanese patients with Crohn's disease.
The company said on the 25th that it will present the phase 3 results of Remsima SC from a study of 60 Japanese patients with Crohn's disease at the 2026 Asian Organization for Crohn's & Colitis and International Meeting of the Korean Association for the Study of Intestinal Diseases (AOCC&IMKASID), to be held in Seoul from the 25th to 27th. Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that can affect the entire digestive tract.
In this study, patients who had achieved clinical remission (a state in which symptoms are minimal) on the existing Remsima intravenous (IV) formulation were switched to the SC formulation, Remsima SC, and their efficacy and safety were evaluated over 44 weeks.
Results showed that patients switched to Remsima SC maintained clinical remission and endoscopic remission stably during the 44-week maintenance period. No new safety concerns were identified.
Following the presentation at the 2026 Digestive Disease Week (DDW) last month, these results are being introduced again at a domestic conference, and Celltrion said it will use this to reiterate Remsima SC's long-term treatment data and product competitiveness to medical professionals at home and abroad.
During the conference, affiliate Celltrion Pharm will run a dedicated booth and conduct academic marketing related to Remsima SC. On the second day of the conference, the 26th, an "Meet the Expert" session will share optimal use strategies for Remsima SC based on real-world prescription data from overseas clinicians.
At the Celltrion luncheon symposium held the same day, Silvio Danese, a leading global scholar in inflammatory bowel disease, and Hong Seong-no will speak. The two experts will present the latest research on topics including real-world experience with subcutaneous Infliximab and personalized treatment strategies for patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
Remsima SC is also growing rapidly in the global market. As of the fourth quarter of last year, it recorded a 31% share in the five major European countries, and in the United States it is sold under the product name Zymfentra, with first-quarter prescriptions this year roughly tripling from a year earlier.
A Celltrion official said, "Through this AOCC&IMKASID presentation, we once again proved Remsima SC's strong clinical evidence," and added, "We will continue to secure global clinical data to accelerate prescription growth and provide treatment benefits to more patients with autoimmune diseases."
