Lotte Biologics said on the 22nd it completed construction of its Plant 1 at the Songdo Bio Campus in Incheon. The site can produce 120,000 liters of antibody drugs. The company plans to support early clinical quantities for overseas clients at the Syracuse Bio Campus in New York, while handling large-scale commercial production at Songdo Plant 1.
Songdo Plant 1 has eight 15,000-liter bioreactors. It applied the latest technologies such as high-yield cell culture. It also introduced an automated logistics warehouse and a real-time monitoring system. The company said it can handle everything from orders to manufacturing and quality verification in one go.
The company obtained use approval two years after breaking ground on Plant 1 in 2024. It will begin full-scale commissioning and validation of the production system in the second half of this year. Bio-manufacturing facilities must meet global current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) standards.
The company built a stable contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) supply chain by linking the Syracuse and Songdo plants. Clients can reduce technology transfer risks during development and commercialization. CEO Park James of Lotte Biologics said, "We will establish ourselves as a partner clients can trust."
