Yuhan said on the 15th that it presented phase 1b results for the allergy drug candidate "Lesigercept" at the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology held in Türkiye. Yuhan is developing Lesigercept following its lung cancer drug Leclaza.
Lesigercept suppresses immunoglobulin E (IgE), which triggers allergic reactions. Allergies sometimes did not respond to standard antihistamines. Patients have been calling for an alternative treatment.
The company said repeated dosing of Lesigercept in 46 people showed sustained efficacy. Safety was confirmed, and no serious adverse events related to the drug were reported.
Yuhan in July 2020 in-licensed Lesigercept from GI Innovation. The two companies are co-developing it, and Yuhan holds the marketing rights except for Japan. Kim Yeol-hong, Yuhan's head of R&D, said, "We plan to evaluate its therapeutic potential through subsequent clinical trials."
