Lotte Biologics has completed a biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility built in Songdo International City, Incheon, and has begun full-scale preparations for operation.
On the 14th, Lotte Biologics said it recently finished construction of Plant 1 at the Songdo Bio Campus and applied for an occupancy permit to the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority.
Lotte Biologics started construction in July 2024 in Zone 11 of Songdo, Incheon, and built a plant with a biopharmaceutical production capacity of 120,000 liters. The plant is also equipped with a 15,000-liter bioreactor to meet large-scale production demand.
With the completion of this plant, Lotte Biologics has secured a total production capacity of 160,000 liters when combined with the 40,000-liter facility in Syracuse, U.S., acquired earlier.
Lotte Biologics plans to build two additional plants of the same scale at the Songdo Bio Campus going forward. When the plan is completed, the Songdo facilities alone will have 360,000 liters of capacity, and total capacity including the U.S. plant will increase to about 400,000 liters.
Based on this, the goal is to achieve 1.5 trillion won in sales by 2030 and to grow into a global top-10 CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organizations).
