Aribio said on the 7th that it will join Eli Lilly and Company's artificial intelligence (AI)-based drug discovery platform Lilly TuneLab™.
Accordingly, the company plans to combine more than 10 years of accumulated neuroscience research data and outcomes with Lilly's AI–Machine Learning-based prediction models to boost the efficiency of drug development.
Lilly TuneLab is an AI drug discovery platform built on research data Lilly has accumulated over decades. It supports decision-making in the discovery and development of candidate compounds by using AI models trained on data such as pharmacokinetics (PK), safety, preclinical results, and hundreds of thousands of molecular structures.
Through this participation, Aribio aims to advance data-driven decision-making across its neuroscience pipeline and increase the precision and likelihood of success in developing therapies that improve the disease itself beyond relieving symptoms.
In particular, Lilly TuneLab operates on a federated learning basis, allowing participating corporations to contribute to improving AI model performance without having to transfer the data they hold externally. As a result, Aribio will protect its core research data while taking part in the global open innovation ecosystem.
Chief Executive Officer Jeong Jae-jun of Aribio said, "Aribio has built world-class expertise and data in neurodegenerative diseases through clinical, translational, and mechanistic research," adding, "With this participation in Lilly TuneLab, we will accelerate the development of next-generation central nervous system (CNS) therapies using global AI–Machine Learning technologies."
Aribio is currently operating its own AI-based drug discovery platform, ARIDD (AI-powered, Rapid and Integrated Drug Development). The platform is being used to develop AR1001, an oral, polypharmacological Alzheimer's disease candidate that targets multiple causal pathways simultaneously, and AR1005, a candidate therapy for dementia with Lewy bodies.
The company said it expects to link ARIDD with Lilly TuneLab to increase efficiency and the probability of success across the entire drug development cycle, including candidate discovery, mechanism-of-action validation, and preclinical and clinical development.
Meanwhile, Aribio is pursuing a merger with Solux, a KOSDAQ-listed company. The company plans to leverage its AI-based drug discovery capabilities, central nervous system (CNS) pipeline, and global collaboration network to grow into a global bio platform corporations.
