JEIL PHARMACEUTICAL said on the 1st that it has hired Park Jun-seok, former head of new drug Discovery at Daewoong Pharmaceutical, as deputy head (executive director) of its central research institute.
Executive Director Park will oversee all research and development (R&D) at JEIL PHARMACEUTICAL's central research institute going forward and is set to lead innovative new drug development and the commercialization of next-generation pipelines.
After graduating from the Department of Chemistry at Chonnam National University, Executive Director Park earned a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from Seoul National University's College of Pharmacy. He then served as head of new drug discovery at Daewoong Pharmaceutical and as chief strategy officer (CSO and executive vice president) at iNt Therapeutics, a Daewoong Pharmaceutical subsidiary for new drug development, carrying out the entire process from discovering new drug candidates to clinical development and approval for more than 30 years.
In particular, Park led development of the domestically developed drugs "Fexuclu" for gastroesophageal reflux disease and the SGLT2 inhibitor diabetes treatment "Envlo," and also took part in technology export processes for numerous new drug candidates, including treatments for autoimmune diseases.
A JEIL PHARMACEUTICAL official said, "We expect this recruitment of an expert to drive R&D innovation for JEIL PHARMACEUTICAL's global new drug development," adding, "It will be a key force in maximizing the value of our R&D pipeline to accelerate entry into the global market."
