HK inno.N said on the 1st that it applied to the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency for approval of a pet atopic dermatitis treatment. The global market for pet atopic dermatitis treatments is projected to grow from about 4 trillion won in 2025 to 12 trillion won in 2034.
HK inno.N recently completed phase 3 clinical trials for IN-115314, a candidate treatment for pet atopic dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis is caused when Janus kinase (JAK)-1, a protein in cellular signaling, becomes overactivated, triggering itch and inflammation. The company said the therapy has an inhibitory effect on Janus kinase-1.
Atopic dermatitis is increasing among humans as well, due to Westernized diets and environmental pollution. The company is developing the treatment so it can be used not only in animals but also in humans. The treatment for humans is in phase 2 clinical trials in Korea.
A company official said, "It can be an alternative in areas where existing treatments fall short," and added, "We plan to expand indications to a variety of conditions, including autoimmune skin diseases."
