Regenerative medicine specialist PharmaResearch has begun construction of its fifth plant. The move is aimed at expanding production capacity to meet rising demand for the company's flagship Rejuran cosmetics and injectable medical devices.
PharmaResearch said on the 22nd that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for PharmaResearch Plant 5 at the Gangneung Science Industrial Complex in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.
The new Plant 5 will be built as an integrated manufacturing facility that simultaneously expands capacity for pharmaceutical and medical device ingredients and cosmetics. It aims to secure manufacturing competitiveness and strengthen supply stability in line with global GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards. The company's strategy is to further reinforce a vertical integration system across raw material production and the supply of finished goods.
The plant is planned as a four-story building with a site area of 30,712 square meters and a total floor area of 40,156 square meters. The pharmaceutical and medical device ingredient facilities are slated for completion in 2027, and the cosmetics facilities in 2028.
According to the company, the expansion will significantly boost production capacity. After completion, production capacity for pharmaceutical ingredients is expected to increase more than eightfold compared with current levels, and medical device ingredients more than fivefold. Cosmetics production capacity will also grow more than tenfold.
A company official said, "Plant 5 is a growth platform with a horizon of more than 10 years," adding, "We will strengthen our in-house manufacturing capabilities from pharmaceutical and medical device ingredients to cosmetics and leap forward as a global total aesthetic company." The official added, "Based on our commitments to the local community since establishing the Gangneung plant, we will grow together with the region."
