Yoo Kyung-ha (66), executive vice president for medical affairs and head of the medical center at Ewha Womans University, was elected the 43rd president of the Korean Hospital Association (KHA) on the 10th. The term is two years starting May 1.
President-elect Yoo, a pediatrician, is the first woman to lead the association in its history. She graduated from the College of Medicine at Ewha Womans University and earned her master's and doctoral degrees in medicine from the same graduate school. She served as head of the Referral Center and head of the Department of Education and Research at Ewha Mokdong Hospital, Deputy Minister for Planning and Coordination at Ewha Medical Center, and president of Ewha Mokdong Hospital. She is currently a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Ewha Womans University College of Medicine.
President-elect Yoo said, "We will build a mutually beneficial cooperation system that encompasses tertiary general hospitals and small and midsize hospitals, as well as the public and private sectors, to prepare structural solutions for the hospital sector overall." She added, "To resolve issues in regional, essential, and public health care, we will strengthen on-site communication and enhance policy execution through a regular consultative body with the government."
