The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Industrial Technology Association said on the 9th that they selected Samsung Electronics senior researcher Choi Jeong-min and Hanmi Pharmaceutical formulation research head Lim Ho-taek as the March recipients of the Korea Engineer Award.
The Korea Engineer Award is an honors program for outstanding engineers that selects engineers who have made major contributions in the field to foster a culture that encourages technological innovation in industry and respects engineers, and confers the deputy prime minister's award (Minister of Science and ICT award) and prize money (5 million won).
Choi Jeong-min, a senior researcher in the foundry division at Samsung Electronics, was selected for the award in recognition of contributions to minimizing semiconductor power consumption through optimized wiring structure design connected to three-dimensional structure transistors (FinFET).
Senior researcher Choi Jeong-min said, "Semiconductor process technology is key to leading the age of artificial intelligence. By developing low-power semiconductors based on FinFET, I will continue to help enhance the nation's artificial intelligence competitiveness."
Lim Ho-taek, head of formulation research at Hanmi Pharmaceutical, developed a combination antihypertensive new drug and an improved new drug for gastroesophageal reflux disease that enhance safety and dosing convenience, based on about 20 years of dedicated research experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Head of formulation research Lim Ho-taek said, "I will continue to do my best to help improve patients' dosing convenience and minimize treatment side effects. I will also keep pursuing innovation and challenges so that Korea can rise to become a global pharmaceutical powerhouse."
