CHA Biotech said on the 4th that its board of directors appointed Cha Won-tae, vice chair of CHA Hospital·CHA Bio Group and chief sustainability officer (CSO) of CHA Biotech, as CEO.
New CHA Biotech CEO Cha Won-tae is the eldest son of founder Cha Kwang-ryul, head of the global research institute at CHA Hospital·CHA Bio Group who built the group, and the grandson of the late Cha Kyung-seop, honorary chair of CHA University·CHA Hospital.
Cha graduated from Duke University with a degree in biological anatomy, earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Yale University, an MBA from MIT, and a doctorate in public health from Yonsei University.
After serving as chief operating officer of CHA Health Systems, which operates Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, and as chief strategy officer at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, Cha served as president of CHA University and was appointed vice chair of CHA Hospital·CHA Bio Group and CSO of CHA Biotech in September last year. In January this year, to strengthen accountable management and enhance corporate value, Cha was appointed an inside director.
