BTS member J-Hope donated 300 million won on his birthday. The donation will be used for treatment costs for pediatric patients and scholarships for students.
According to Asan Medical Center on the 18th, J-Hope donated 200 million won in development funds that day to the hospital's children's hospital. Following last year, J-Hope donated the same amount again this year on his birthday, Feb. 18. Starting with a 100 million won donation in 2022, his cumulative donations to Asan Medical Center total 500 million won.
The funds delivered by J-Hope will be used for medical facilities for pediatric and adolescent patients, improvements to the medical environment, home-based care for severely ill pediatric patients, and the operation of psychological healing programs.
J-Hope said, "I continue to donate out of a desire to give back to 'ARMY' (the fandom name), who always send great support. I am grateful to be able to make a meaningful contribution again on my birthday this year, following last year," and added, "I sincerely hope children can overcome their pain and dream bright dreams."
That day, J-Hope also donated 100 million won to the child welfare organization Green Umbrella. Green Umbrella plans to use this donation to provide scholarships to students at Gwangju International High School, J-Hope's alma mater, and to students at Jeonnam Girls' Commercial High School in the same area.
Since 2018, he has been donating through Green Umbrella for socially vulnerable groups, including treatment costs for child patients and support for children in families hit hard by COVID-19. With this donation, he became the 14th member of the Green Noble Trinity Club, Green Umbrella's ultra-high-value donor group for those with cumulative donations of 1 billion won or more.
BTS will then embark on a world tour starting at Goyang Sports Complex in April. The tour will be held 79 times across 34 cities in North America, Europe, South America and Asia. It is the most shows for a single tour by a K-pop artist.
