Samsung Biologics said on the 29th that it earned the top Platinum rating—given only to the top 1% of corporations—in the ESG (environment, society, and governance) assessment by EcoVadis, a global sustainability research organization.
Founded in France in 2007, EcoVadis evaluates more than 150,000 corporations in 185 countries each year across four areas—environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement—and assigns ratings. Ratings are classified as Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
The company was highly rated in this assessment for driving effective ESG management activities across environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
John Rim, head of Samsung Biologics, said, "Earning the Platinum rating this time once again proves our standing as a leading ESG corporations in the global pharmaceutical and biotech industry," adding, "We will faithfully fulfill our role as a responsible contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) through ESG management that meets the expectations of customers and stakeholders."
