President and CEO Kim Min-young of Dong-A Socio Holdings said on the 5th, "We will leap forward as a global healthcare corporations based on tangible results through R&D."
On this day, Kim held a kickoff ceremony at the group's Yongin Research Institute in Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, and emphasized the group's mid- to long-term growth strategy centered on new drug research and development.
The Yongin Research Institute houses Dong-A ST, a new drug development and prescription drug business company, the research organization of Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co., a business company for over-the-counter drugs and health functional foods, and Aptis, a specialized corporations in antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) development.
The event was attended by the heads of Dong-A Socio Holdings, Dong-A ST, Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co., ST PHARM, and Aptis, as well as the head of research at Dong-A ST, the director of the research institute at Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co., and other group executives and employees.
Kim said, "Dong-A Socio Group began with a research section within the production department in 1971 and completed the Yongin Research Institute equipped with the latest facilities in 2011, continuing bold investments in R&D over the past 50-plus years," adding, "Based on the experience and know-how accumulated in that process, let's deliver tangible R&D results as we approach the group's 100th anniversary in 2032."
She continued, "This year is a time to take off and a period for action," and asked, "Let all employees of Dong-A Socio Group run forward with the burning passion and unwavering execution of a red horse."
In the presentation of key R&D strategies held after the kickoff ceremony, Dong-A ST said, "We will establish an optimized research organization and strategy that fits the company's resources, capital, and capabilities, pursue product development to secure short-term sales, expand our pipeline through open innovation, and develop new drugs using an AI drug discovery platform."
Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co. said, "We will clearly identify customers' lifestyles and needs to focus on developing differentiated products, strengthen competitiveness and profitability in existing markets through various new products, and at the same time create new markets."
