All final procedures to build a bio plant in Yesan, South Chungcheong, for Celltrion have been completed. A biopharmaceutical production facility of about 36,000 pyeong will be built, with completion targeted for 2028.
South Chungcheong Province said on the 30th that the industrial complex plan for Celltrion's move-in completed all procedures with a review by the Central Land Expropriation Committee on the 24th and was finally approved and announced.
With this approval, Celltrion will invest a total of 300 billion won to build a biopharmaceutical production plant on a 119,000-square-meter site within the Naepo New Town agri-bio convergence industry cluster industrial complex in Yesan County. Groundwork will begin in Mar. next year, with the plant construction to be completed by 2028.
The industrial complex is the first-phase project of the "Naepo agri-bio convergence industry cluster," and Celltrion took part directly from the early stage of establishing the industrial complex plan. In Feb., it signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with South Chungcheong Province and Yesan County and has discussed the direction of the complex's development and investment plans. This is the first case in Korea in which a move-in company participated directly in establishing an industrial complex plan.
South Chungcheong Province expects that, with Celltrion's move-in as a catalyst, the attraction of related corporations will gain momentum and the exchange of technology and talent will be activated, strengthening the cluster's competitiveness.
An Ho, head of industrial economy at South Chungcheong Province, said, "Centering on industrial facility sites, we will create support facilities and public facilities together with Celltrion and build a sustainable industrial complex by comprehensively reflecting measures to reduce disaster and environmental impacts."
