Born in 1980, Senior Vice President Bong, formerly head of the cultivation group in the PD team at Samsung Bioepis, was promoted to senior vice president at the end of last year.
A company official said, "Senior Vice President Bong has been in charge of cultivation, process development, and work related to the Digital Twin at the company." The Digital Twin is a technology that reproduces experimental procedures such as cultivation in the real world exactly in digital form.
The Samsung Group recently launched Samsung Bioepis Holdings, which was created through a spin-off from Samsung Biologics. Samsung Bioepis Holdings has Samsung Bioepis and Epis Nex Lab as subsidiaries. Samsung Bioepis develops and commercializes biopharmaceuticals. Epis Nex Lab plans to push ahead with a business to develop bio-technology platforms in areas such as amino acid conjugates (peptides).
The bio-technology platform business aims to develop highly scalable technologies to create multiple new drug candidates. Because it is not limited to a specific drug or disease and can be applied to various fields, it is an area with high potential for business expansion.
As a result, the Epis Nex Lab board of directors will consist of three people: Senior Vice President Bong Gi-tae, Executive Vice President Hong Sung-won (56) of Samsung Bioepis, and Kim Kyung-ah (57), head of Samsung Bioepis Holdings. Executive Vice President Hong will concurrently serve as CEO of Epis Nex Lab, and CEO Kim will concurrently serve as another non-executive director of Epis Nex Lab.
