Boryung said on the 12th it will double its annual production of oral penicillin antibiotics, a national essential medicine. To do so, it will expand the production facilities at its Ansan campus in Gyeonggi from 840 pyeong (2,777 square meters) to 1,320 pyeong (4,364 square meters).
Boryung held a groundbreaking ceremony that day for the expansion of the Ansan campus. It plans to automate the packaging process to reduce workers' burdens and errors. It will also introduce equipment and a quality control system that meet global standards.
Boryung is responsible for more than 60% of the supply of penicillin antibiotics. With this expansion, the company will be able to supply medicines stably even in emergencies such as a pandemic. Chief Executive Kim Jeong-gyun of Boryung said, "We will improve the production quality of penicillin antibiotics."
