Samyang Group said on the 26th that it marked its 101st anniversary by reflecting on the direction and values of the corporations together with employees.
A company official said, "On the 24th at the Seoul Grand Park forest bathing area in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, we held the 'Purpose Walk 10.1' event with about 200 employees in attendance," noting, "It was a 10.1-kilometer trekking event symbolizing the '101st anniversary,' prepared to share and experience the group's corporations purpose together."
Following an opening ceremony, the event consisted of trekking in which employees were divided into 12 teams and walked along themed paths such as "reading forest" and "thinking forest." In each section, missions such as quizzes and matching picture cards on the group's history and vision continued. Before the trek, employees also took time to reflect on the corporations philosophy at the "Samyang values exhibition wall," which organized Samyang's core values and major milestones.
Kim Yoon, chairman of Samyang Holdings, said in a commemorative address, "We need to shift the portfolio to focus on global and specialty (high-functionality) businesses to achieve product differentiation, and set concrete goals in semiconductors, batteries, personal care, and eco-friendly materials to improve execution."
Kim also emphasized, "We must support stable growth by optimizing working capital and strengthening profitability, and advance beyond digital transformation (DX) to artificial intelligence (AI) transformation," adding, "We need a culture that breaks from convention to pursue challenge and innovation."
Samyang Group announced a new corporations purpose last year on its 100th anniversary: "We unlock the potential of everyday life. We change the future of humanity." This year, based on that, it is continuing companywide value internalization and innovation activities.
Samyang has hosted employee-participation events every year on its founding anniversary. Last year, to mark its 100th anniversary, it held a vision declaration ceremony inviting domestic and overseas client companies and business figures, and conducted the "NEW SAMYANG FESTIVAL," in which all employees participated.
