ChosunBiz, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), and Gangneung City will host "The 1st Gangneung NP·BIO International Conference" at St. John's Hotel Gangneung from Oct. 22 to 24.
This year's event, under the theme "Beyond Gangneung to the World: Connecting the Future of Natural Products and Biotechnology," serves as a platform to share the latest research trends and technological advancements in the natural products and biotechnology industries, while promoting communication between researchers and the public to foster a culture of science.
The event will feature an opening ceremony and keynote lectures, followed by a variety of programs. After the opening ceremony at 3 p.m. on the 22nd, a keynote lecture will address global trends in the natural products and biotechnology industries. From the 23rd to the 24th, the NP·BIO Advanced International Conference and the Aslla Symposium will take place, bringing together renowned international scholars and domestic researchers to share the latest research achievements and discuss the industrial applications of natural products and biotechnology.
On the 23rd, a public conference open to general attendees will be held at the same venue from 9:20 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., Yaknim (Dr. Lee Sang-gon), the science communicator from the YouTube channel "Unrealscience (안될과학)," will deliver a special lecture, offering an engaging and accessible talk on how science can be applied and expanded in everyday life.
Throughout the event period, an exhibition and promotional booths related to natural products and biotechnology will also be operated. Research institutes, universities, and companies will showcase their technologies and research achievements. Visitors will also be able to enjoy hands-on programs such as 3D food printing demonstrations and microbial microscopy observations, as well as a coffee break area for networking and relaxation.
