Dong-A Pharmaceutical said on the 24th that it signed a business agreement with the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science under the Rural Development Administration for the industrialization of "Pyeonganae." Pyeonganae is a domestic Hwanghae mugwort variety. An extract made from Hwanghae mugwort has been approved as a health functional food ingredient for protecting the gastric mucosa.
Dong-A Pharmaceutical will study the efficacy of Hwanghae mugwort and push ahead with the development of functional products. The National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science will promote consolidation between Pyeonganae-producing farms and corporations. Producing farms will participate in the supply of domestic raw materials and quality control.
Yun Chun-hee, head of the Dong-A Pharmaceutical research institute, said, "We will focus on Pyeonganae research and unveil differentiated functional products."
