Daewoong Pharmaceutical said on the 24th that it provided medical volunteer services to 73 North Korean defectors in Ansan, Gyeonggi. North Korean defectors often suffer physical and psychological trauma during the defection process. Barriers to the national health insurance system and other factors make it difficult to receive timely treatment.
Daewoong Pharmaceutical organized a volunteer group with Medical AI, Exosystems, and EverEx. Using medical devices with artificial intelligence (AI) analysis, the team screened for heart failure, sarcopenia, and musculoskeletal conditions. Based on the test results, it provided individualized exercise regimens. It also guided participants to hospitals where they could receive additional diagnoses.
Cho Byung-ha, head of digital healthcare at Daewoong Pharmaceutical, said, "This event is a model case of ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management that combines social responsibility with advanced technology to solve local issues," adding, "We will continue to expand our social contribution activities in cooperation with partner companies."
